How Can I Help?
So, if you are an American teenage girl, there might be many reasons why you might not want to go to school. Maybe you are ill...perhaps you are behind on your homework...you could even just want to "sleep in." However, you probably would not want to avoid school due to the lack of a private bathroom facilty. When we visited Cambodia last year, we did find that girls were telling us that they needed bathrooms when we asked what they needed. Bathrooms? Yes...how would you feel if you had to walk out the the wooded area or in the forest to find a private place to go to the bathroom?Girls who do so, often risk being attacked or even kidnapped...plus there are still some landmines in some areas of Cambodia - not really a safe place for young woman or girl to be. Sure, a bathroom won't solve all the world's problems. It won't even solve all a single girl's problems. However, if it takes away even one excuse for not going to school, then it is most certainly worth it! We need your help. Already we have raised $5000.00 in the past 3 years. We have built 4 toilets and 4 wells already! Send inquires to: You can mail your contribution to: |
